Born in Chile, pianist and conductor Claudio Arrau, gave his first recital in Santiago at five. He was a good friend of Leonard Bernstein,  At a party where the two first met, Bernstein met a compatriot of Arrau, actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn, who soon became Bernstein's wife.
